Private: Washington Place Townhouse

Historic and contemporary juxtapose in the design team's renovation of this 1832 townhouse in the West Village. The interior was gutted and modernized while the front and rear facades were historically restored, with a double height modern glass window inserted on the rear, establishing the relationship between indoor and outdoor spaces. R2P carried that concept out into the courtyard design by aligning an incision into the site with that on the architecture.
