Private: Blue Building, Green Roof

We are currently developing this 6,000 sf common rooftop for Bernard Tschumi's iconic BLUE building in lower Manhattan. The design form is a response to the deconstructivist architecture, and its program juxtaposes culture with environment. Two areas of green-roof frame the occupiable spaces for dining, lounging, sunning, entertaining, performing, and movie projection. Phase one was the selection of furniture and a temporary landscape installation to make the space usable during design development (see Birch Forest). Phases 2 and 3, completed in summer 2010 and 2011, consisted of the tree and green roof plantings and carpentry. The final phase, to be realized this winter, includes the new ramp, mural/movie wall, and custom seating elements.
